Privacy, and the legal bits

Who operates this

No cookies and no cross-site identifier
This ad server sets no cookie, writes nothing to your browser's storage, and does not build a profile of you or follow you between sites. There is nothing to opt out of and no consent banner, because nothing is stored on your device.
What is measured
For each ad delivered we record the time, which site and slot it filled, which campaign and creative was chosen, the country and broad device type reported by Cloudflare's edge, and a one-way hash of the page path. Whether the ad was actually visible on screen, and whether it was clicked, are recorded against the same record. Your IP address is never written to storage.
How ads are chosen
Contextually — which site you are on, roughly which page, which country and what kind of device. Nothing about you personally, and nothing carried over from another site.
This page itself
Your light or dark preference is the one thing kept in your browser, under oze-theme, and it never leaves your device. The page loads its two typefaces from Google Fonts, and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and where from — Cloudflare's analytics is cookieless and does not fingerprint you, unlike most visitor-tracking scripts. Cloudflare, who serve this page, also run a small security check in your browser on every page they serve, to help tell a real visitor from a bot; that runs regardless of what this page asks for. None of this reaches the ad tag: the ad tag on our member sites loads nothing from anyone but us, and none of it can identify you individually or follow you to another site.
Enquiries sent from this page
The form posts to this same host and is emailed to ads@oze.net.au. We keep the correspondence long enough to reply. It is not used to target ads and is not written into the ad logs.
Your rights
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and, where it applies, the GDPR. Because no identifier is stored, the measurement records above are not linked to an individual. If you believe we hold information about you, or you have a complaint about how it has been handled, email ads@oze.net.au and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Advertising standards
Every ad is labelled as a promotion. We do not accept gambling, adult, cryptocurrency or political advertising, and we reserve the right to decline or withdraw any ad without giving a reason. Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy and legality of their own creative, including under the Australian Consumer Law.
Reported numbers
The ad counts on this page come from our own server logs, are updated every few minutes, and exclude traffic we identify as automated. The visitor numbers come from Cloudflare's analytics for the sites it serves: a visit is a page request arriving from outside the site, counted at Cloudflare's edge from the request alone, with no cookie and no script, and reported as a sampled estimate once a day. All of it is provided in good faith as a measure of activity, not as an audited circulation figure.
